58% Green Energy First Half 2024

Sustainables made up 58% of total electricity generation in the first half of 2024. Wind power and hydro power generation, respectively, increased  as thermal power generation decreased.

On the islands of Suðuroy, the isolated grid ran on 100% sustainables for a total of 72 days in the first half and the main area ran on 80% sustainables for 44 days.

Batteries and synchronous condensers have proven to secure utilization of inverter based energy production on the grid. In Suðuroy, average utilization of wind power rose from 30% to 73% after installation of the BESS.
