Never before has SEV produced so much electricity as in 2015, and the Company also set a production record from water and wind. 2015 was the first year in which the new wind turbines in Húsahagi were in operation a whole year.
The Eiði hydropower plant, where extensive expansion and improvments were undertaken over the last few years, hit a record production in 2015, and the Strond hydropower plant had never before produced as much electricity as in 2015.
Compared to all other years and months, December 2015 also now holds the record for total electricity production.
The Vestmanna area had the highest production since 1982, and the oil-fired thermal power plant at Sund produced 46.4% less power during 2015, compared with 2010, when the production at Sund was the highest ever.
